Mission Statement
The Noncredit Adult and Continuing Education Services (NACES) Center provides student-centered services and learning opportunities that enable noncredit students to achieve their personal, academic, vocational, and civic goals in order to transition to credit programs and become more active members of their communities.
NACES assists students in:
- Noncredit counseling and advising
- Transitioning from noncredit to credit classes
- Preparing for college-level English and Math courses
- Becoming a United States citizen
- Bridging to become a more active member of work and community
- Preparing to pass the High School Equivalency Test
- Student registration and enrollment assistance
- Noncredit new student orientation and assessment
- Student referrals to on-campus and community agencies
- Pre-employment training to prepare for a career in social services
- English as a Second Language, Computer Literacy, Building & Construction, Custodial Technician, Phlebotomy Technician, and In-Home Support Services Courses
- Providing a computer lab for academic purposes
- Completing the GED test on campus
Student Learning Outcomes:
- ESL Noncredit students will identify campus resources.
- All GED/HiSET participants will demonstrate the HiSET registration process.
- New ESL noncredit students will demonstrate the LASC email login process.

| | TAKE THE NONCREDIT ENGLISH EVALUATION If you are enrolling in English as a Second Language (ESL) or citizenship preparation, you will be provided with an English language evaluation for a proper level recommendation. |

All students must log into the PeopleSoft SIS portal MyCollege.laccd.edu and click the Canvas link to access their online classes.
SIS Login ID - Your 9-digit Student ID Number (example:881234567 or991234567 )
SIS Password - Students will use the same password to access the new PeopleSoft SIS and Canvas.
NOTE: You should have access to Canvas the same day you register for a course. It may take up to 2-4 hours after registration before your login works if the semester has started. New students will create a password the first time logging in.

If you are interested in taking college credit courses but are unsure of how it all works, take our free noncredit program to prepare you. This program will prepare you for college-level courses if you haven't been to college in a while or ever.

| Academic Success |
| This certificate will assist students to strengthen their academic readiness to undertake or progress in College-Level academic and CTE programs. |
You may have been in difficult situations over the course of your life, such as experiencing homelessness, incarceration, mental health challenges, and substance use. And, it may have made it difficult to find work. Yet, social service agencies have found people with these lived life-experiences have valuable attributes for working with clients who are currently experiencing homelessness. Because of this, LASC offers Careers for a Cause, an innovative and enterprising pre-employment training program for those who have had these lived life-experiences and are looking for entry-level positions in the homeless services sector. By offering an 8-week cohort program that builds soft skills and has supportive case management while you're in the program, Careers for a Cause can prepare you to work in this field. This program will teach you fundamental information about the nature of the work you will be doing. It will take you through a detailed orientation of the homeless services network, called the Coordinated Entry System. You will also learn about the principles that agencies follow when working with clients using the "housing-first, trauma-informed care, harm reduction, client-centered" approach. All of this will benefit you by giving you critical knowledge your future employer will not need to train you on, saving them time and money and giving you a leg up on the competition. This program has already played a critical role in increasing social service workers to those experiencing homelessness. It is also an extremely in-demand career that is as rewarding as it is difficult. Your life experiences can help change the lives of so many here in L.A. and beyond.
Description: | Careers for a Cause is a pre-employment training program offered by LASC to prepare South LA residents to compete for careers in social services. Participants receive a stipend and case management to support participation in the training. At the end of the program, students receive a CTE Career Exploration Certificate from LASC. |

Are you a U.S. permanent resident? Do you want to be a U.S. citizen, but do not know how to start or prepare for the process? LASC NACES can help. We have helped many students prepare to become U.S. citizens through free classes. We offer two preparation courses all year round. Classes are offered in English or in Spanish. We also assist students with practice interviews and filling out the USCIS naturalization application.

Have you been wanting to prepare for the GED or HiSET test? Is the high school equivalency certificate stopping you from achieving your career or educational goals? Take our free high school equivalency (HSE) preparation classes. This program focuses on math, reading, writing, social studies, and science. Once you are ready to take the test you can take it on campus. This program will also prepare you to transition to college-level credit classes.
